About the Movement Lab
About Chrysta (she/her)
Chrysta is a Pennsylvania native who received her BFA in Dance Performance from Southern Methodist University. Her dance career (and general love for travel) took her all over the United States, Europe, and Israel. She's worked with aspiring and professional dancers from ages 5 through 80.
As a fitness professional, she has over a decade of experience and holds certifications in corrective exercise, pilates for neurological conditions, pre and postnatal fitness, group fitness, barre, pilates, TRX, boot camp, and HIIT. Additionally, she has extensive experience with training and guiding new instructors as they take their first steps into the fitness industry.
Her pilates journey started alongside her studies as a classical dancer. When her dance career ended, she got a job teaching barre at a pilates studio in downtown Denver. As a perk, she got to take free reformer classes. While pilates reminded her of all of the things she loved about dance, she found it to be much more inclusive and physically gratifying. She loved what it taught, and continues to teach, her about the body and how it connects to itself and the world around it. She went on to receive classical and contemporary certifications. As a lifelong student, she is probably studying to get another one.
Her classes are tough, but her jokes are funny, and while you might not like the fact that she constantly forgets to count, you'll definitely love her later on.
The Movement Lab offers private and semi-private pilates instruction in an inclusive and exploratory environment. We combine the Contrology method by Joseph Pilates with other fitness and movement modalities to create personalized classes tailored to our clients' individual abilities, needs, and progress.
